Who the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award covers
The Social, Community Services, Home Care and Disability Series Industry Award covers employers and their employees who fit within the classifications of the award and are in the following sectors:
- crisis assistance and supported housing
- social and community services
- home care
- family day care scheme.
Crisis assistance and supported housing sector
This sector means the provision of crisis assistance and supported housing services.
Social and community services sector
This sector means the provision of social and community services including:
- social work
- recreation work
- welfare work
- youth work or community development work.
This sector also includes:
- organisations who primarily engage in policy, advocacy or representation on behalf of organisations carrying out such work
- the provision of social, community or disability services including the provision of personal care (including therapeutic care) and domestic and lifestyle support to a person with a disability in a:
- community
- residential setting
- respite centre and day services.
Home care sector
This sector means the provision of personal care, domestic assistance or home maintenance to an older person or a person with a disability in a private residence.
Family day care scheme sector
This sector means the operation of a family day care scheme for the provision of family day care services.
Examples of employees covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award include:
- clerical and administrative employees in the family day care and social and community services sectors
- social workers
- community development workers
- welfare workers
- personal care workers working for a person with disability in their home
- aged care workers working for an older person in their home
- nursing assistants working for an older person in their home
- youth workers
- clerical and administrative support employees
- crisis accommodation workers
- supervisors in a group home.
The Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation in the sectors listed above.
