Who the Asphalt Award covers
The Asphalt Award covers employers and their employees in the asphalt industry.
The asphalt industry means roadmaking and the manufacturing, preparing, applying, laying or fixing of:
- bitumen emulsion
- asphalt emulsion
- bitumen/asphalt preparations
- hot pre-mixed asphalt
- cold paved asphalt, and
- mastic asphalt.
The award also covers employees working in a mixing plant, spray or paving crew.
The Asphalt Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation in the asphalt industry.

Who the Asphalt Award doesn't cover
The following employers and employees are not covered by the Asphalt Award:
- employees who mainly do clerical or administrative work
- employers in the on-site building, engineering and civil construction industry who do not primarily provide asphalting services.
