Who the Travelling Shows Award covers

The Travelling Shows Award covers employers in the travelling shows industry and their employees who fit the classifications within the award.

The travelling shows industry includes:

  • employers who travel from place to place and operate any stand, fixture or structure that provides amusement, food and/or recreation (excluding selling of sample bags) during (or connected to) any agricultural or horticultural show, carnival, rodeo, gymkhana, community event or festival.

It includes erecting, dismantling and/or maintaining stands, fixtures or structures used above.

Examples of employees covered by the Travelling Shows Award includes:

  • counter attendants
  • program or ticket seller
  • cashier
  • ride attendant
  • forklift drivers
  • food attendants
  • animal carers
  • cleaners
  • ride operators
  • waiter staff and bartenders
  • cooks
  • customer services employees
  • construction technicians
  • erectors
  • general hands
  • supervisors.

The Travelling Shows Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation in the travelling shows industry.

Who the Travelling Shows Award doesn’t cover

The following employers and employees are not covered by the Travelling Shows Award:

  • immediate family members of employers in the travelling shows industry
  • employees who mainly do clerical and administrative work.

The Travelling Shows Award doesn’t cover employers and employees when they are covered by the Retail Award.
