Public holiday pay for shearers paid daily rates in the Pastoral Award
All shearers are paid double the piecework rate on a public holiday.
This means that shearers who normally get paid by the day will get piecework rates on a public holiday.
Example
James is a not found flock sheep shearer who worked on a public holiday. He normally gets paid a $259.53 daily rate.
To work out the public holiday pay, his employer finds the piecework rate for his work.
The applicable rate is $347.39 per 100 flock sheep. He will get double the rate because it’s a public holiday.
James gets paid $694.78 for working on the public holiday.
All rates contained in this article are effective from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2022.
