Casual pay in the Local Government Award
When casuals work ordinary hours, they get paid:
- their minimum hourly rate
- a casual loading of 25% of their minimum hourly rate
- any applicable penalty rates.
Penalty rates
Casuals get paid penalty rates when they work:
- shiftwork
- weekends
- public holidays.
The penalty rates are calculated on their minimum hourly rate.
Overtime
When casuals work outside ordinary hours, they get paid overtime. They don’t get paid their casual loading when they work overtime.
