Award coverage for weed sprayers

The Pest Control Award provides broad industry coverage for weed spraying at:
- private properties
- commercial properties
- civic buildings or facilities, including parks, national parks and roads.
Example
Sally is a weed sprayer for a pest control company. The business provides specialist pest control services to fruit and vegetable growers.
Sally is covered by the Pest Control Award.
Other industry awards
A weed sprayer can be covered by a different industry award if:
- their employer operates in the industry defined in the award
- weed spraying is done as part of the employee’s duties within the industry as defined by the award.
Examples of other industry awards that can cover weed sprayers include:
- Gardening and Landscaping Award
- Horticulture Award
- Hospitality Award
- Pastoral Award
- Registered Clubs Award
- Silviculture Award
Example
Shane is a station hand on a sheep station. One of his duties is spraying weeds on the farm.
Shane is covered by the Pastoral Award.
No industry award coverage
A weed sprayer who isn’t covered by an industry award is:
- covered by the Miscellaneous Award, or
- award free.
Miscellaneous Award
The Miscellaneous Award can cover a weed sprayer if:
- they’re not covered by an industry award
- they’re not a managerial employee
- they’re not a professional employee.
An employee may be considered a professional employee if their role requires a degree qualification
Award free
A weed sprayer who isn’t covered by an industry award or the Miscellaneous Award will be award free.
Award free employees are entitled to the national minimum wage and the National Employment Standards.
