Who the Airport Award covers

The Airport Award covers employers who operate airports. Employees are covered if their employer operates an airport and they fit within the classifications of the award.

Examples of employees covered by the Airport Award include:

  • technical services assistants
  • technical services officers
  • ground services officers
  • administrative services officers
  • professional engineers.

The Airport Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation that operates an airport.

Who the Airport Award doesn’t cover

Employees employed by a local government employer who is covered by another award (eg. the Local Government Award) are not covered by the Airport Award.

The following employers and employees are not covered by the Airport Award:

  • employees employed in the airline operations industry working at the airport (ie. not for the airport)
  • air pilots
  • in-flight catering businesses and their employees
  • aircraft cabin crew.
