Government support

JobAccess

JobAccess is the national hub for workplace and employment information for people with disability, employers and service providers.

National Disability Abuse and Neglect Hotline

Reports of abuse or neglect of people with disability can be made through the National Disability Abuse and Neglect Hotline.

Complaints Resolution and Referral Service (CRRS)

The Complaints Resolution and Referral Service (CRRS) accepts complaints about government funded services such as:

  • Disability Employment Services (DES)
  • Australian Disability Enterprises (ADE)
  • Disability Advocacy Services.

Fair Work Commission

The Fair Work Commission (the Commission) is the national workplace relations tribunal.

Applications can be made to the Commission if an employee is terminated because of:

  • a reason that is harsh, unjust or unreasonable
  • discrimination, or
  • another protected right.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding directly to people with disability.

RecruitAbility

The RecruitAbility scheme aims to attract and develop applicants with disability into the Australian Public Service (APS). The scheme also aims to facilitate cultural change in selection panels and agency recruitment.

Disability Gateway

The Disability Gateway has information for people with disability about support services that are available.

National Disability Advocacy Program

The National Disability Advocacy Program provides people with disability access to effective advocacy support.

Anti-discrimination bodies

Australian Human Rights Commission

The Australian Human Rights Commission considers and accepts complaints of workplace discrimination and harassment covered under federal law including complaints based on disability.

IncludeAbility is an initiative of the Australian Human Rights Commission that supports:

  • people with disability looking for work
  • employers who want to create meaningful employment opportunities for employees with disability.

State or territory anti-discrimination bodies

State or territory anti-discrimination bodies can consider and investigate breaches of state or territory anti-discrimination laws in workplaces.

Not for profit organisations

Australian Disability Network

The Australian Disability Network (AusDN) is a national, not for profit organisation who assist organisations to develop their behaviours, attitudes, systems and knowledge so they can successfully engage with people with disability as staff, customers and stakeholders.

People with Disability Australia

People With Disability Australia (PWDA) is a national disability rights, advocacy and representative organisation that is made up of, led and governed by people with disability.

Association of Employees with Disability Legal Centre

The Association of Employees with Disability (AED) Legal Centre is a community legal centre that provides free legal advice to people with a disability in the areas of employment and education.
