Leading hand pay rate in the Joinery Award

A leading hand is an employee who supervises or directs the work of another employee.

They’re paid the higher of:

  • the minimum pay rate for the highest level employee that they supervise, or
  • their own minimum pay rate.

They also get a leading hand allowance.

The allowance is a percentage of the standard rate based on the number of employees they supervise.
