Is there an unpaid parental leave entitlement when fostering a child?
No.
Employees may be entitled to unpaid parental leave when they adopt a child. However, fostering a child, on either a long term or short term basis, isn’t the same as adopting a child.
This means that employees that foster a child aren’t entitled to unpaid parental leave under the National Employment Standards.
