Meal allowance during overtime in awards
Some awards say that an employee should get paid a meal allowance for working a certain amount of overtime.
When won’t an employee get paid a meal allowance during overtime?
An employee won’t get paid a meal allowance during overtime if their award:
- doesn’t have a meal allowance
- says that a meal allowance isn’t paid when they’re given notice of the overtime work
- says that a meal allowance isn’t paid when the employer supplies a meal.
