Racing ground maintenance involves the construction, ornamentation, presentation, formation or keeping in order of grounds or enclosures used in the racing industry, including gardens lawns and trees,
Examples of employees covered by the Racing Ground Maintenance Award includes:
- maintenance and horticulture employees
- tradespersons
- trackwork and pool supervisors
- managers of the above.
The Racing Ground Maintenance Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation in the thoroughbred, harness, trotting and greyhound racing industries.

Who the Racing Ground Maintenance Award doesn't cover
The following employees are not covered by the Racing Ground Maintenance Award:
- employees who work on racing grounds but whose work does not directly involve maintenance of the grounds (eg. hospitality and event workers)
- clerical and administrative employees.
