Can casual employees work a broken shift?

Yes.

What’s paid?

An employee is paid:

  • for the hours they work
  • any penalty and shift allowances that apply
  • a broken shift allowance which is 1.91% of the standard rate.

Children's Services Award - clause 3 says the standard rate means the minimum weekly rate for a Children’s Services Employee Level 3.1 in clause 14.
