Pay for part-time employees who work extra hours in the Children's Services Award
Part-time employees who agree to work extra hours are paid their base pay rate for the extra hours.
They’ll get overtime rates when they:
- work more than 8 hours in a day, or
- work outside the operating hours of the business.
Example
Belinda is a part-time employee who usually works 6 hours every Tuesday.
Belinda’s employer asks her if she would like to work an extra 3 hours that day to cover a sick employee. Belinda agrees.
Belinda is paid 8 hours at her base pay rate and 1 hour of overtime for her work on Tuesday.
