Award coverage for insulation installers
Award coverage for insulation installers depends on:
- where the installation work is done
- the employer’s industry.
Industry award coverage
An industry award can cover an insulation installer if:
- their employer operates in the industry defined in the award
- there is a classification which matches the employee’s duties and qualifications
For example, an insulation installer may be covered by one of the following industry awards.
Building and Construction Award
The Building and Construction Award applies if:
- the employer is in the industry of onsite general building and construction
- the installation is work is done on site as part of the employer’s business activity in that industry.
An employer who engages employees to install insulation but who is not in the industry of onsite general building and construction is not covered by the Building and Construction Award.
Electrical Award
The Electrical Award applies if the employer is in the industry of electrical services provided by electrical, electronics and communications contractors.
Manufacturing Award
The Manufacturing Award applies if the installation work is done by an employee mostly engaged in manufacturing or producing insulation material.
No industry or occupational award coverage
Insulation installers not covered by an industry or occupational award are covered by the Miscellaneous Award. They'll be classified based on their duties and qualifications.
