Payment in lieu of notice for cents per kilometre drivers in the Road Transport (Long Distance) Award

What is payment in lieu of notice?

When a full-time or part-time employee is terminated they’re entitled to a notice period.

Payment in lieu of notice means the employee is paid instead of working the notice period.

How is it worked out for cents per kilometre drivers?

They’ll get their cents per kilometre rate on an average weekly distance.

This is calculated by averaging the distance driven by the employee over the 28 days before their employment ended.

Is there a minimum amount they must get?

Yes.

They must get at least the minimum weekly rate for their classification.
